A beauty staple, vitamin C is all rage among beauty aficionados. Not only is it popular but is an essential ingredient all must have in their skincare routine
Vitamin C is enriched with antioxidants that help in the natural regeneration process and accelerates the skin renewal process. Also, It helps in brightening up the skin by improving the appearance of coarse lines and wrinkles on your skin
But are you sure you are getting benefits from your vitamin C serum? Read on to find out how you can know if your serum is working for you.
Dr upasna nagpal a aesthetic physician discussed the following three ways that can help you find out if your serum is working
pH of vitamin C serum
As per the expert, the foremost deciding factor is the pH of the serum. So, if the pH is anywhere between 3-3.5 or even 2.5 to 3.5, your vitamin C can work. However, when the pH gets higher there is not enough active vitamin C for it to be effective.
Packaging of serum
The second thing you should pay attention to is the packaging of your serum. "Most vitamin C needs to be in a dark bottle for it not to be deactivated by the light," said Dr Kiran in her video.
Formulation of serum
As per Dr Kiran, the third thing you should ensure is that the formulation is based on science. "If Vitamin C destabilises then it destabilises the other ingredients too. So, vitamin C should not be with the chemical sunscreen agent at all. Don't expect it to magically be in your sunscreen and work," she revealed further in the video..
However, the best way, according to Dr upasna nagpal to know is to find if you are seeing the results. "If you use the serum for a month and you find your skin to be bright, clear, and less sensitive to the sun, then vitamin C is definitely working," said Dr upasna nagpal.
